Carlson Studio Marketing recently sponsored the Hats On To Shade Luncheon, chaired by Grace Carlson and Eliza Culverhouse.The event was in support of the Shade Foundation of America, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting skin cancer awareness and raising money for shade structures over school playgrounds, minimizing exposure to the sun.The luncheon was held on Wednesday, October 27 at the TCP Prestancia Clubhouse.

Men and women alike donned their finest hats in support of the cause. The event featured a silent auction of high end designer Eric Javits straw hats. During lunch, Sarasota Dermatologist Heidi K. Anderson, MD, gave a presentation on the different types of skin cancer, how to spot it, and some tips for prevention. Shonda Schilling, founder of the Shade Foundation, melanoma survivor, and wife of Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling, shared her story on her very public struggle with melanoma.

Carlson Studio Marketing attended State College of Florida's LEED Dedication Ceremony for its brand new Medical Technology Simulation Center. Contractors, architects, and builders were honored for their hard work in developing the medical training facility that achieved LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

SCF President Dr. Lars Hafner and Associate Vice President of Facility Management and Government Relations Traci Steen welcomed business leaders, SCF board members, local elected officials, and community leaders to tour the new facility. They also introduced the new Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Energy Technology Management Program, which is the first of its kind in Florida.

Guest speaker Robert Chronic, Director of Energy Management Training Programs at Eaton Energy Solutions Inc., applauded SCF on the new program.

Michael Carlson, President of the Florida Gulf Coast Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council, presented certificates to everyone involved in the vision and implementation of the LEED Gold Building.
