Carlson Studio Marketing recently sponsored the Hats On To Shade Luncheon, chaired by Grace Carlson and Eliza Culverhouse. The event was in support of the Shade Foundation of America, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting skin cancer awareness and raising money for shade structures over school playgrounds, minimizing exposure to the sun.The luncheon was held on Wednesday, October 27 at the TCP Prestancia Clubhouse.
Men and women alike donned their finest hats in support of the cause. The event featured a silent auction of high end designer Eric Javits straw hats. During lunch, Sarasota Dermatologist Heidi K. Anderson, MD, gave a presentation on the different types of skin cancer, how to spot it, and some tips for prevention. Shonda Schilling, founder of the Shade Foundation, melanoma survivor, and wife of Major League Baseball pitcher Curt Schilling, shared her story on her very public struggle with melanoma.

Lovely table setting with a uniquely decorated straw hat as the centerpiece. One lucky guest at each table, with a ladybug hidden on the back of their program, went home with the centerpiece!

The silent auction featured the latest trends in high end fashion from Eric Javits including hats and handbags.

These ladies in wide-brimmed hats are learning valuable methods to prevent skin cancer from Dr. Anderson.

Eliza Culverhouse, Shonda Schilling and Grace Carlson worked hard to make this event come to life!
